Richard Liu is the East and Southeast Asia Regional Director at ITDP. He is an international executive and urban planner with 20 years of experience in China, the US, and Europe. Prior to ITDP, Richard worked at the Oak Foundation, where he developed, monitored, and provided strategic direction for a grant making pipeline and portfolio on climate mitigation in developing nations. Previously, he was a specialist with the Natural Resources Defense Council in Beijing, and a principal consultant to the American Planning Association. Richard got his start working as a planner with government agencies in Florida and Texas. He holds a bachelor’s in Architecture from Tianjin University, China and a Master’s in Urban Planning from the State University of New York.
